Situated on the banks of the majestic Kali River, this wilderness camp is one that combines the vast ruggedness of the jungle with the reassuring comforts of home. Dandeli offers plenty of opportunities, and will leave you enthralled with the unfathomable mystery of nature. The number of places and the variety of activities that exist here are limitless. Stay with us for a while…who knows, you may never want to go back again!

Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary, spread over 400 sq km of bamboo and moist deciduous trees, is located on the border of Goa and Karnataka. The park is rich in flora and fauna where nature’s eternal show is on display. Dandeli’s pristine and captivating landscape offers thrills rarely seen elsewhere. Rich, hilly forest terrain, deep river valleys, and meandering rivers make for a superb trekking experience with the fragrance of thyme and basil permeating the air. The  Kali River dominates Dandeli, be it from its banks or from atop a mountain. The magical pull that it exerts over each visitor here is to be experienced to be believed.

Dandeli (475.02 sq. km) was declared a wildlife sanctuary on 10th May 1956, but at that time covered only 204.33 sq. km. This was enlarged to 5725.07 sq. km on 10th May 1975. This was too big to manage with the industrial and mining pressures and it was reduced to 834.16 sq. km on 31st August/1st September 1988 and further to its present size on 29th April 1994. A relatively undisturbed area of 250 sq. km. in the southern part of the sanctuary became Anshi National Park.

At the far end of the tents is the Gol Ghar - a round, open-to-sides gazebo- which is exclusively for guests to dine. The camp also has a full-fledged bar inside the main bungalow.  The indoor games parlor has a table tennis area and a carom board too.  Tues interested in watching TV can make use of the lounge at the main bungalow.  The camp also offers internet connection for guests who would like to stay connected.  The camp offers both vegetarian and non-vegetarian Indian cuisine with a strong local flavour.

Activities

The serene and calm face of Kali can be experienced when you go on a ride in the native, saucer-shaped boat called coracle.  This is just the right time for bird watching along the banks, especially the hornbills, criss-crossing the trees and also for spotting a few crocodiles basking in the sun on the nearby rocks.  River Kali has two faces.  For those who really ant to feel the fury of its cascading waters and experience the thrill of white water rafting, this is the place to be.  The camp offers true adrenalin-rush rafting on River Kali, with very high safety norms to boot.  The Camp also offers adventure activities like kayaking, canyoning ( Rappelling down a waterfall ) and mountain biking too.
